Post Jam retrospective

The game was created December 3rd 2021 to December 10th solely for the jam.

So this was my first game jam ever and obviously I did a lot wrong. But thats how you learn.

The biggest mistake was to try and fit as much in as possible.

But for a jam it is best to stick to a simple Idea and make it as accessible as possible. Instead of adding as much content as possible, you want to nail the core concept and put everything else in the presentation. So instead of adding an extra feature you should rather make the game playable in Browser and so on.

The Game wasn't bad, but very rough. And that is mirrored in the reviews. It has a much higher Raw Score than final score meaning not a lot of people played it, but those who did rated it above the average of games with the same exposure. This is also noticeable in the comments. They are all very positive. So the problem wasnt the game itself it was the accesability. I'm confident that it would have scored much higher if I had focused on the initial impression and the overall presentation of the game. Something like an Intro, an easier to understand tutorial and a cleaner more concise presentation.

Also trying to fit so much in I neglected stuff like clean code and expandability. So the code base is a mess and I probably won't come back to the project.

But I had fun creating the game so I'll join future jams and try to apply what I learned.
